Machu Picchu Peru

High above the clouds in the Andes mountains in Peru lays down the legendary Inca city of Machu Picchu.



No visitor to Peru should ever miss the incredible sight of this mysterious city.



Hiram Bingham discovered Machu Picchu in 1911 with the help of local farmers. It is the most famous sight in South America. Shrouded in legend, is the real purpose of Machu Picchu are still the subject of many debates. Many conflicting explanations for its existence and to the fact that it could not be found by the Spaniards have surfaced. One of the more popular legend says that Machu Picchu was some sort of vacation retreat for royalty in Cusco. Inca themself probably forgotten it, so even the Spaniards were unable to find the city anymore. Today who lost towns still exist in the area. Choquequirau is another site recently found and many others continue to elude explorers. Most famous of all is Paititi, gold and last retreat of the Inca city.



No matter how much gold that any of these sites can hold, it is difficult to imagine that these towns can compete with Machu Picchu in beauty. Perched high up in the Andes mountains, with breathtaking views over the Valley and the Urubamba river below Huayana Picchu above, is the beauty of Machu Picchu, hard to understand. When entering the city for the first time, one can hear many sighs of visitors who just experienced incredible sight. Photos can't prepare you for what you will experience first-hand. No wonder that the City attraction New Age people every day.



Machu Picchu, Peru's most popular attractions and probably its most visited site, even if it is established in a remote area can only be reached by trains and buses or trains and foot via the Inca Trail. You will need to take the train from Cusco to the Aquas Calientes, Peru. You can either travel by tourist train, vistadome train, or outrageous expensive Hiram Bingham train. The journey takes between 3,5 to 4 hours one way. In Aquas Calientes, Peru has several accommodation possibilities. It lies at the foot of the mountains where Machu Picchu is located. Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, at the entrance to the town offering the best evening views of the city for wealthy travellers. Shuttle buses will take you from Aquas Calientes, Peru to Machu Picchu. The journey takes about 20 minutes.



Travelers will have the best overview of the city from surveillance activities, mark the entrance from the hut. From here you can plan your attack on the city. Machu Picchu is divided into three areas, the Royal district, the industrial district and the District of Saints. Hitching posts in the Sun (or Intiwatana) is probably the most famous archaeological treasures in sacred district. It is the best conserved one in all of South America. Second was torn during the conquest of the Spaniards. The temple and the Temple of three Windows are other important locations in the District of Saints.



You can rent a tour guide or take your time to explore the city on their own. Whatever you choose, there are amazing things to be discovered, as well as a special stone quarry as impressive document in stone splitting technique used by the Inca.



You should have plenty of water, a raincoat and something to eat. There is no food on the site and the only other restaurants in addition to the Sanctuary Lodge can be found in Aquas Calientes, Peru.
